In addition to the numerous IAFE Scholarships, State and Provincial Associations will offer scholarships to attend the State and Provincial meetings. These will vary each year year as
do the deadlines.
The Hazel M. Staley Scholarship was established by the Virginia Association of Fairs in recognition of Hazel M. Staley. Hazel was an industry advocate always encouraging individuals to
increase their knowledge and participation within the Fair industry and become more involved with their State Fair Associations, Zone conferences and the annual IAFE convention. For
over 40 years she was an active volunteer at the Montgomery County Fair, MD and the Virginia Association of Fairs. It is with her spirit that the recognition evolved into a scholarship for
participation in knowledge and educational activities.

Applicant must be active and in good standing with their Virginia Association of Fairs member fair/festival.
Applicants fair/festival must be a member of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE)
Previous Hazel M. Staley Scholarship recipients are eligible re-apply.
Scholarship ($1500) can be utilized for payment for all IAFE activities including but not limited to CyberSeminars, Institute of Fair Management Summit*,Management Conference, Annual
Convention, Zone meetings, CFE and CVFM program. Acceptable expenses included non-reimbursed air travel/hotel receipts. *Must be enrolled in the Institute of Fair Management to
The scholarship amount will be disbursed as a reimbursement for fees as listed above upon presentation of request for same.
If the full amount of the scholarship is not reimbursed within the calendar year following the award, the balance remaining will be forfeited by the recipient.
The scholarship funds are non-transferrable
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated by a committee, using the blind judging system, by judges selected by the Virginia Association of Fairs scholarship committee and awards made upon
the following criteria set forth by the Virginia Association of Fairs.

35% of score based on essay section of application
