SVOG Grants Open April 8 and more – Update on Advocacy from the IAFE

If your fair has ticketed, live musical concerts please read on. If not, skip to next section.

The SBA will open the application period for SVOG on April 8. It is still very unclear if applications from fairs will be accepted or not. Some of your peers believe, if the letter of the law is followed, fairs should be eligible even though the SBA has issued FAQs specifically to say fairs are not. Use your best judgement, read all the rules and materials carefully.
You should also reach out to Congress and the SBA as indicated in materials at this link to continue to advocate that the law be followed. Please do this immediately – before the application is launched on April 8. I continue to work with people from the entertainment world to advocate at the highest level for fairs to be included.

The bill for a dedicated $500 million funding through USDA for agricultural fairs is a few steps away from being introduced.  Representatives Panetta (CA-D) and Long (MO-R) have now had two more Representatives (both parties) agree to sign on when the bill is introduced in the House. One Democratic Senator has agreed to introduce, and the work now is to find a Republican Senator to co-sponsor. As soon as that is done, we will be reaching out to ask that you connect with your own Representatives and Senators to urge them to sign on.

Your IAFE has signed on with 13 other organizations asking the Small Business committee leadership in Congress to create a separate type of "shuttered venues operator grant" just for the outdoor events industry, with $15 billion committed to it. Leaders of the coalition are working in one-on-one meetings with Representatives and Senators to identify some "champions" for the cause.
