Wyoming Association of Fairs Holds Annual Conference

The Wyoming Association of Fairs Annual Conference was held Oct. 11-12, 2007, in Jackson, Wyo. According to Criss Crozier of the Crook County Fair, Sundance, Wyo., the 42 registered fairs and service members were welcomed by President Yvonne Robertson of the Teton County Fair, Jackson, Wyo.

The educational portion of the conference began with a presentation by Mary Martin of the University of Wyoming titled “Effective Meetings.”  Michael Hnatt of ShoWorks had a cost and logistics presentation for the Wyoming fairs.  Frances VanHouten, Rainmaker Coaching, LLC, presented “Cracking the Code,” which focused on understanding different personalities when working with staff and board members.  After the first session, conference attendees took a tour of the Teton County Fairgrounds.

Johnathan Despain of the Wyoming State 4-H, James Goodrich of the Wyoming State Fair, and Barney Cosner and Vicki Rupert of the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs gave updates on their respective organizations.

The conference ended with a business meeting, which included the election of new officers.  The 2007-2008 officers are President Kandi Pendleton of the Sweetwater County Fair, Rock Springs; Vice President Sharon Nadeau of the Sheridan County Fair, Sheridan; Secretary Criss Crozier, and Treasurer Donna Dalin of Double D Pig Wrestling.
