Vermont Agricultural Fairs Association and New Hampshire Association of Fairs and Expositions Hold Annual Meeting

The 18th Annual Vermont Agricultural Fairs Association and New Hampshire Association of Fairs and Expositions Combined Convention was held Feb. 2, 2008, at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vt.  Around 250 people attended the meeting despite the snow and ice. Twenty-five vendors participated in the trade show.

Barney Cosner of the Nebraska State Fair, Lincoln, delivered the keynote address.  IAFE Director of Grants and Special Education Marla Calico presented an IAFE Update. IAFE Zone 1 Membership Chair Greg Chiecko of the Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, Mass., gave a presentation on membership in Vermont and New Hampshire. David Grimm of the Champlain Valley Exposition shared a PowerPoint presentation on his fair.

Table topics offered at the convention included Horse Pulling, Treating Your Departments Fairly, Fair History, Web Sites, Free/Paid Admissions, and Camping.  An auction to benefit future association meetings raised over $2,500.  Raymond Thayer was the auctioneer.

The 2009 Vermont/New Hampshire Fair Meeting and Trade Show will be held Feb. 7 at Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vt.
