Ohio Fair Managers Association Holds Annual Convention

The Ohio Fair Managers Association (OFMA) held its annual convention on Jan. 7-10, 2008, at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus. A total of 2,564 people attended the event.

The keynote speaker was former Ohio State University head football coach Earle Bruce. Educational forum topics included Planning and Executing Beer Sales, Audit Training, and Senior Fair Animal Health Rules. Bethany Baird of Fayette County Fair, Washington Court House, was crowned the 2008 Ohio Fair’s Queen.

The 2008 Hall of Fame inductees were Lawrence Walkden, Dave Howard, and Dominic Albanese. Communications Awards were presented to small, medium, and large fairs for numerous categories including Newspaper Ad, Radio Ad, Web Site Home Page, Printed Promotional Material, Fair Premium Book Cover, TV AD, Newspaper Flyer, and Outdoor Ad.

The 2008 OFMA officers are President Tim Massie of the Gallia County Junior Fair, Gallipolis; First Vice President Dan Martin of the Butler County Fair, Hamilton; Second Vice President Dan Kimmet of the Allen County Fair, Lima; and Treasurer Robert Dawson of the Lake County Fair, Painesville.

The 2009 OFMA Convention will be held Jan. 5-8.
