Kentucky Association of Fairs Convenes in Louisville

The Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows (KAFHS) held its annual convention Jan. 10-12, 2008, at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky.

The KAFHS held a number of educational programs during the annual meeting. Topics included Safety at Your Fair: Are You Covered, Youth Development at Your Fair, Basic Web Page Design and Setup, and Marketing Your Fair. The KAFHS held the Charlie Kachler Memorial Auction set a record through generous bids by fairs and associates. Over $11,000 was raised for youth scholarships during the convention.

The state organization encouraged the members to link to the newly revamped KAFHS web site (www.kafs.net). Association officials are hoping to make the site more useful to fairs and fair attendees.

The 2008 KAFHS officers are President Truitt Clements of Union County Fair, Sturgis; President-Elect Bill Asbury of the Germantown Fair, Germantown; First Vice President Dudley hay of the Clinton County Fair, Albany; Patricia Parrish of the Murray-Calloway County Fair, Murray; and Secretary/Treasurer Gib Gosser, who was elected to his third three-year term to his position.

The 2009 KAFHS convention is scheduled for Jan. 8-11, at Louisville’s Galt House Hotel and Suites.
