Orange County Fair and Event Center Names New CEO

Steven Beazley, the current chief operating officer and senior vice president of the Orange County Fair & Event Center (OCFEC), Costa Mesa, has been named the new CEO, succeeding long-time CEO Becky Bailey-Findley. The OCFEC board of directors elected Beazley at the March 27 meeting.

“We feel Steve is the right choice to lead OCFEC, especially during this time of change, transition, and growth,” stated OCFEC Board President Dale Dykema.

Beazley has worked at the fair in a variety of positions for 33 years. He is an alumnus of South Coast Repertory’s professional acting conservatory and holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, where he served as a professor of psychology for four years.

“I have very much valued the fair’s approach of ‘educate while entertaining.’ When that combination is presented in a recreational setting like the fair, fun and growth easily go hand-in-hand,” said Beazley.

This summer’s fair will be Ms. Bailey-Findley’s last as CEO. She has served the OCFEC for over 35 years. She began by showing animals in livestock competitions at the age of 10. Ms. Bailey-Findley has been influential in developing the annual Youth Expo, Centennial Farm, and Ranch After School Program. Under her leadership, attendance at the fair has grown to over 1 million visitor a year.

“I am so proud of the OC Fair & Event Center and all the wonderful people that make up this organization,” said Ms. Bailey-Findley.

Ms. Bailey Findley and Beazley plan to work with the board, staff, and partners to transition the organization through the summer, with Beazley assuming the leadership in the fall.

The 2008 Orange County Fair will run July 11-Aug. 3.
