Lynn Dunn Passes Away

Lynn Dunn, of Marion, Iowa quietly passed away in his sleep while attending the IAFE Spring Seminar in St. Louis on March 12, 2008. Funeral services were held March 17, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion by Pastor John Albertson.

Dunn represented the Linn County Fair, Central City, Iowa, which was one of IAFE’s newest members, having just joined the Association in late 2007. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Marion; his parents, Eugene (Irene Wears) Dunn of Solons, Iowa; two sons, Ryan (Krista) Dunn of Waukee, Iowa, and Sean (Jennifer) Dunn of Marion; his siblings, Linda (Wayne) Blackford of Marion, Louan (Jim) Handke of Bellevue, Iowa, Lance (Karen) Dunn of Marion, and Lisa (Jon) Hoffermann of West Des Moines, Iowa; his in-laws Jim and Lois Wild of Anamosa, Iowa; and two brothers-in-law, David (Barb) Wild of Robins, Iowa, and Jim (Patti) Wild of Eldon, Mo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.

Dunn had participated in a Consumer Protection Program presented by the IAFE for Iowa fairs and shortly thereafter convinced his fair of the benefits of joining. He immediately enrolled in the IAFE’s Institute of Fair Management, attended the Zone 5 meeting and eagerly came to the Spring Seminar in St. Louis. Dunn was 57 years old and in addition to serving on the board of the Linn County Fair was also a director for the Association of Iowa Fairs, a 4-H leader, a farmer, and sheep producer.

Military honors were provided by the Iowa Army National Guard. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or the Linn County Fair.
