Timely, convenient, and affordable education is just a few clicks of the keyboard away with the launch of the new CyberSeminar series from the IAFE.  The IAFE CyberSeminars are webinars — interactive presentations viewed on the World Wide Web while simultaneously listening in on a conference phone call.

New and Unique Ideas For Competitive Exhibits

The competitive exhibits are the lifeblood of any fair, getting folks young and old, urban and rural, men and women involved by entering everything from cookies to quilts, woodwork to web pages, photos to flowers in the fair.

In this important CyberSeminar you will find see some of the new and unique ideas for exhibit classes, contests and competitions shared from our members across the continent.

Our presenter is Mary Quinn, Exhibits Director for the Ozark Empire Fair in Springfield Missouri. Mary’s career at the Ozark Empire Fair started when she was just 12 years old when she won her first blue ribbon with a dairy heifer. For many years she competed in both livestock and family living exhibit categories at the fair, until joining the staff in 1986. Mary has served the IAFE as chair of the Competitive Exhibits Committee, and been a judge for the IAFE Communication and Competitive Exhibit Awards. In addition to her word with the Family Living Department at OEF, she also manages the Fair’s annual “THE Lawn & Garden Show”, as well as the non-agricultural exhibits at the Fair’s co-owned event, the Ozark Fall Farmfest.  She currently serves as the Chair of the Greene County University Extension Council.

Registration Procedure

Technology will make it convenient for members to log-on to the Internet and dial in to a conference call from the convenience of their office or home (long distance charges apply).  A high-speed Internet connection is recommended to view the seminar.  Registration to participate will be by location, so members are encouraged to gather additional staff, volunteers, or board members around the computer and phone to join in for this learning experience. Each CyberSeminar will last between 60 and 90minutes, and registered participants will receive hand-outs and related material by e-mail in advance of the session.

Significant interest has been generated in CyberSeminars since first announced to the membership at the 2006 IAFE Annual Convention.  Future seminar topics will include Financial Management, Grounds/Maintenance Development, and Human Resource Management.

The registration cost will be $59 per site.  Registration closes April 11 at 5:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time). For more information about the CyberSeminars, contact Rachel Stutesmun or Marla Calico at the IAFE office (800/516-0313).
